The cylinder tube is the main body of the hydraulic cylinder, and the quality of its processing directly impacts the service life and reliability of the product. Therefore, its manufacturing requirements are relatively high, with deep hole machining being a key feature that demands advanced technical skills. When this crucial component fails, the consequences can be significant.
If the hydraulic cylinder tube experiences a failure, the following repair methods can be considered:
For internal surface roughening, localized wear, rust stains caused by coolant entering the tube, or shallow grooves (even if deep, but only in the circumferential direction, not longitudinal slots): Use fine metallographic sandpaper or honing stones for polishing.
For deeper, axial grooves with a depth greater than 0.1 mm and a length exceeding 100 mm: Boring or honing should be considered for the inner hole, followed by grinding. The precision and surface roughness should meet the specified dimensions, as explained above. If these repair conditions are not met, cleaning off oil and dirt and then silver brazing the damaged areas can be an alternative.
Grinding Process: Honing can be done in two stages: rough honing and fine honing. The two methods are similar, with the main difference being the grit size of the honing stones used. For rough honing, the grit size of the honing stone is 80, while for fine honing, the grit size ranges from 60 to 200. After fine honing, use 0# cloth to polish the surface. If conditions allow, this can be done on a dedicated honing machine; otherwise, it can also be done on a regular machine tool. If the inner surface of the cylinder is damaged, manual honing or honing on a vertical drilling machine can also be applied.
