The cylinder piston rod is a crucial component in the cylinder, shouldering the important mission of supporting and transmitting working force. It is mostly made of high-quality alloy steel or stainless steel, which endows it with excellent properties such as high strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. The following will elaborate on the processing technology and related technical points of the cylinder piston rod.

In the material preparation stage, it is necessary to select appropriate materials according to the specific requirements of the piston rod. High-quality alloy steels such as 45# steel, 40Cr, and 42CrMo, or stainless steels like 304 and 316 are common choices, aiming to ensure that the materials have sufficient strength and corrosion resistance.

In the cutting process, first, the raw materials are sawed into the required length using a sawing machine according to the design length. Then, the cut materials are roughly turned into cylindrical shapes on a lathe to lay the foundation for subsequent processing. After that, precision turning is performed on the roughly turned materials to make their diameter, roundness, and surface roughness meet the design requirements.

The heat treatment process has a significant impact on the performance of the piston rod. First, the precision-turned piston rod is quenched to improve its hardness and strength. Then, tempering and quenching treatment is carried out to eliminate residual stress, enhance toughness, and ensure overall performance.

Surface treatment can further optimize the performance of the piston rod. Rough grinding can remove the oxide scale and rough surface generated during heat treatment; polishing can improve surface finish, reduce frictional resistance, and prolong service life; chrome plating, as an optional method, can enhance its wear resistance and corrosion resistance.

Next is the processing of positioning holes and threads. According to the design, positioning holes are processed on the piston rod for connection with the cylinder, and threads are also processed on the piston rod for fixing seals and other accessories.

The inspection and debugging stage cannot be ignored. The appearance inspection should ensure that there are no cracks, bubbles, or other defects on the surface; diameter measurement, roundness detection, and surface finish detection need to rely on professional instruments to ensure compliance with design requirements; assembly debugging inspects its movement and sealing performance in the cylinder.

Cylinder piston rods are widely used. They realize linear motion and transmit pressure in hydraulic cylinders and pneumatic cylinders; play a role in supporting and transmitting force in construction machinery such as hydraulic excavators and loaders; and have important applications in aircraft landing gear and other components in the aerospace field, as well as in metallurgical equipment and hydraulic braking systems in automobile manufacturing.

In short, the cylinder piston rod is a core component of the cylinder. Its processing requires multiple processes and strict quality control to ensure high strength, high precision, and stability, so as to play a reliable role in many fields.
